We
went to school at 7 o’clock to attend farewell ceremony. We performed our Thai
tradition dance and delivered farewell speech by Ray. The school gave us the souvenirs
and very touched speech. Finishing ceremony, we separated to our building. I went
to senior building with Liew, Aomsin, Ann and Eve. We went to classroom for
saying goodbye to our students. I accidently found the student who taught me to
fold dragon by using paper and he gave the orange dragon to me on last Tuesday.
We went to UNM at 1 o’clock for sharing our experience and receiving
certificate from Campus.
Won’t you come down? Come away with me
Just think of all the places we could be
I’ll be waiting, waiting on a brand new day

We went to Malino on Sunday at 7 o’clock. Mr.
Yassir and his volunteer students came to pick up us at the hotel. There were 2
Thai students joined the trip, P’Sum and P’Yung. When we arrived at Malino I
felt the cold from the weather and the atmosphere was dewy and decent. We
played game with Indonesian friends. They prepared game for us. We had to eat
crackers tied on the ropes. They played this game on Independence Day. The last
4 people will be punished. Aomsin and I were 2 of the last four. I was close to
finish my crackers but Nutcha stole my scence. (TT)
Flag Race
We presented Thai
flag race. We divided into 2 team; Thai and Indonesia. And we always won. When
we won we dance hippo song, the song fromour university welcoming ceremony. When we
finished dancing we saw 1 teenage boy sat on the hill and he was rolling on the
floor laughing.
After that Mr.
yassir took us to Malino Highlands. That place is beyond beautiful I felt that
I could touch the cloud. I saw hills covered with the cloud and the golden
light shaded on some of hill. I wish I could capture that moment, although that
moment will be last long with the picture but the beauty isn’t as much as we
see by our own eyes.
Then Mr.Yassir led
us to the waterfall. We had to walk down the hill over 6 kilometres, I guess. Seeing
many people walked back from the water, made me realize that we didn’t arrive
at the waterfall yet, how far was it exactly? Walking down took us that much
energy, so how about when we went back? We had to hiking. That wasn’t cool at
all. It was too late to go back, I’d rather keep going. We finally arrive at
our destination.
When we got back
from waterfall, we walked around seeing tea field, garden, and strawberry
field.
Before heading back
to the hotel, Amin called us to line up because he had an announcement but first
he had to invited P’Sum and P’Yung to say something. They said Mr.Yassir really
mad at us because some of us always travel the town alone and next year this
campus will not accept our university. They are just Thai people in foreign
land who accidently get to know us, so they actually have nothing to do with
us. But it was like they are being accused too. So we must’ve been punished to
please Mr.Yassir. We did 40 fast squats. Considering we’ve just walked over 10
kilometres. That was outrageous and unfair.
Then the secret was
reveal. We got prank from Thai students. They prepared the role with Mr.Yassir
and the rest of Indonesia students. How could they do that to us? How could
they?
I had 4 classes to teach
that week. According to Monday was the Chinese day so I had only 3 classes to
go and I taught Causative Clause.
The first class I taught at Athira Islamic School
On
Tuesday I had 2 classes. The first class I taught was very fun and well participated.
Some of students were trouble maker, but I was okay with that. At least they
tried to understand the lesson. The second class was also nice. They were
interested in my activity and content. In conclusion I was proud of them and
myself, of course.
We
attended the lecture delivered by Mr.Yoji Sato on Thursday at UNM, so we couldn’t
go to school.
I
observed students while they were cooking in domestic science subject. They were
creative students. All the food they cooked smell good and the look of it was savoury.
They also gave us Gado Gado.
Gado Gado
On
Friday I taught only 1 class. That day I fell unwell my voice was gone and I had
sore throat, but I gave it’d go. While I was performing my lesson I suddenly
heard a loud screaming voice from the outside my classroom. So, looking
outside, I saw the actor and the actress from the movie that students had
watched on previous week walking outside with the group of teacher. Then I had
to give them a break. I screaming voice was too loud and it’s still ringing in
my ears (I’m kidding) but the voice was really loud if I were the actor I’d
touched. When they entered my classroom I had to admit that the actor is good
looking guy.
When
I went back hotel Thai students accompanied us to buy souvenirs and I got batik
dress for my mum. Arriving at the hotel, I asked Chop to buy me Bakso. And this
was what I get.
My plastic bag of Bakso
When he handed me the plastic bag he told me he was shocked
either, but P’Sum said this is normal, why are we so shocked? To be frank the test was outstanding
though.
We
went to the beach with Mr.Zul and 2 students from the school. Before the beach,
they took us to the seafood place. Seafood is very different from Thailand. We have Thai seafood sauce, it’s spicy and sour.
While in Indonesia, they have it with lalapan. It’s like Thai chili paste with boiled
vegetables. Both sauces with seafood are delicious, but I prefer Thai style.
Then
they took us to the beach that we must pay before enter, I don’t remember its
name. We got in and then we suddenly out, because the water wasn’t worth to
swim and the atmosphere was too uncomfortable. So, they took us to Akkarena beach.
That place is beautiful with black sand and glittering water. There were only 2
people swimming, Mr.Zul and Liew.
On
the way back, we stopped by Chinese mosque, and another campus of Athira Islamic School.
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby,
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here.

My friends went to Bugis waterpark
on Saturday, but Aomsin and I insisted to be at hotel since two of us needed to
focus and figured out on our lesson for teaching on Monday.
On Sunday,
all of us were invited to have lunch at ma’am Widya’s home. It was funny how we
arrange the room in the car. We sat, we laid down to fit ourselves in it. We
couldn’t even move or feel our body part because we all got cramps. Lucky for
us her house doesn’t much far from the hotel. By the way, I love it!
When we arrived at her house, we met
her lovely family. They are so friendly and kind. We also met her cat cubs. They’re
so tiny! She already prepared the meal for us. Everything was delicious and
decent. I didn’t take any picture of foods because I was busy with eating! I also
tried es buah, the flavor and the look was like Thai iced desert. (We took the
leftover food to our hotel too.)
After we finish the meal, we
started to sing karaoke, and we sang many songs. We were in luck again to
listen to ma’am Widya’s angelic voice. I also sang 2 songs with Chop, Bohemian
Rhapsody from Queen and Imagine from The Beatles. Chop and Eve played ma'am Widya's husband's guitar while the other singing. We borrowed his guitar back to the hotel. Ma’am Widya gave us a souvenir
and arranged a trip to Malino on next Sunday. Can you believe that? We’re going
to Malino next week!!! before we went back she also gave us the quote that I really fascinated. " When you go to another country, you don't compare things or differentiate things, you get the reflection."
On the way back, ma’am Widya gave
us a tour at the campus. The campus is very shady and peaceful. There are many
big trees alongside the road. Then again I didn’t take the picture, because the
way we sat in the car didn’t allow us to move.
Monday, I had class on 7 o’clock.
This week we all had to assist our
supervisor and I was too ready. Unfortunately,
it was the first Monday of month and all of senior students and teachers must’ve
attended to auditorium for ceremony, so were we. Well, we went to auditorium
and we were honored to join the stage with all of the teacher and 2 officers. The stage was very hot and there were mosquitoes.
This event is almost 1 hour long, but it fine with us as we are tough. So, I couldn’t
go to the class that day.
The game is on
That day was special though, because Liew, Aomsin and
I played soft ball with the kids from senior 3rd grade. We’ve never
played this game before but with the help from Mr.Oeyha (he’s a P.E. teacher)
we’re finally got this game.
The
week was memorable week, because Liew and I had an opportunity to manage the
classes, we had too many classes to handle, the first grade to the third grade
of senior. In fact, I was more like Liew’s assistant. The kids were happy with activity
(I can tell from their faces) they were so energetic and we’re so exhausted
(alright, we are older). So, we had more help from Aomsin, Eve and Anne, but
all of us still tired anyway. According to the game, we had banana dance as a punishment.
Liew and I must’ve danced with the students, because we had to show the dance
move and students didn’t just watch they recorded our video. The video went
viral among the teachers, and every single one of the school too, I guess. Everywhere
we walked by we’d hear banana song with a little dance move. Were they mocking
at us or they just loved the song too much so they couldn’t move it from their
head? I take the second guess.
Chop and I delivered speech
On
Friday, after being pushed, kicked, begged, bargained by the friends, Chop and
I deliberately had to deliver the speech, telling experience and answer the questions
about our daily life. Chop got scream and applause louder than everyone (he’s
popular). The event was set at Education Faculty building at UNM. They
presented us Indonesia Traditional dance and gave us the field trip around their
faculty. I was impressed and touched.
At
8 p.m. we had an opportunity to attend drama play, marginal men by students in
English club of UNM. Unfortunately, We couldn’t watch the whole story because
the smell of cigarette is too strong. So, we decided to head back the hotel
early.
On
Saturday the group of SEAMEO and the professor from UNM visited us at the
hotel. They’d like to know our experiences so far, impression, and our
suggestion. The day was happily day though. However, it started with the water
wasn’t run. That situation happened for the second time. The first time was on micro
teaching day, I don’t want to talk about that because none of us took a shower
to UNM. Lucky for me, that Saturday Aomsin and I woke up so early so we could
take a shower while the other couldn’t. That was our victory!
On
Sunday, Thai students invited us to having farewell dinner for P’Hun. He
graduated with a first-class Honours degree and he's going back to Thailand on Monday. We went to their place at 2 p.m.
and helped them to prepare the meal by cooking spicy papaya salad. When the
time was 5 p.m. we started to serve the dishes. There were spicy papaya salad, suki
and fired chicken with sticky rice. That was the real happy meal.
Saraba TIme
After
we finished the meal, they took us to have saraba. It made from ginger, palm
sugar. Its taste resembled to Thai ginger drink. By the way, you can ask them
to add milk, egg or honey when you order. I asked them to add more milk and it
was too sweet. While we’re enjoying our drinks and talking, there was the busker
came to the table with his guitar and sang a song for us. He sang with
different tongue and his voice was beautiful.
We
headed back to hotel at 9 p.m. we talked too much, I guess.
We went to school early as
usual. Today it’s my turn to observe the classroom the third grade of senior. I
finally met my pupils. I was excited!
When we’re all entered the
room, my supervisor asked us to introduce ourselves and students asked us so
many question. For example, why do we choose Indonesia? What is our expectation
here? Have you tried Coto? What are the differences between Thai and Indonesia?
Which country do you like most between Thai and Indonesia? (How dare you ask me
this question? Dear. < just kidding ^_^) when the time was up I talked to
the foreigner student. She is a Belgian exchanged student and her name is
Maudie. (I’m not sure if I spell her name right.) She’ll be there for a year. I
also talked to the students who had an opportunity to study at Hungary and
travel around Europe.
